The Early Years

Founded in 2008, MA.STRUM has always been a brand rooted in innovation, driven by function, and committed to pushing the boundaries of outerwear design. A British brand with an eye for detail and a passion for performance, MA.STRUM takes inspiration from the world of sportswear, military, and utilitarian fashion, blending these elements into garments designed to withstand the elements while looking effortlessly stylish.

The early years of MA.STRUM were marked by a significant collaboration with the Massimo Osti Archive—one of the most revered names in technical fabric and garment research. Osti, the legendary Italian designer, was a pioneer in fabric development and garment technology, having founded iconic labels like Stone Island and C.P. Company. Through this partnership, MA.STRUM was able to draw upon Osti’s groundbreaking work with technical fabrics, giving the brand its initial direction and reputation for forward-thinking design.

2014 Onwards: John Sharp

In 2014, the brand entered a new chapter when it was acquired by John Sharp, an entrepreneur with a deep passion for quality craftsmanship and innovative fashion. Under Sharp's leadership, MA.STRUM has continued to evolve while staying true to its roots of combining form and function. Sharp’s vision for the brand emphasises a continued commitment to technical innovation, expanding the brand’s footprint and furthering its dedication to producing outerwear that performs as well as it looks.

John Sharp has been instrumental in steering MA.STRUM into the modern era, driving the brand forward with a focus on expanding its product range and maintaining its high standards of performance. His leadership ensures that the brand not only carries on its legacy but also stays ahead of the curve in fabric technology, garment construction, and design evolution.

John also proudly owns the menswear label Boneville. Founded in 1981, Boneville enjoyed great—albeit niche—success throughout the 1980s, closing its doors in the early 1990s. John bought the brand in 2012 and triumphantly reintroduced it to the market in 2014.
